The HP Manufacturing Company is privately owned and began operations in 1939. The company was originally named The House of Plastics, which is now associated with the company’s retail store. The retail store serves as a custom fabricator and services the public with all their plastic needs.
During the 1940s the company was a supplier of aircraft canopy tops to the U.S. military. These endeavors allowed the company to gain experience in working with acrylics, as well as engineering-grade plastics and thermoset materials such as phenolic.
Around the middle of the 20th century, the company was contracted to aid in the development of medical imaging devices and similar precision-machined plastic parts and assemblies to service the needs of medical imaging and diagnostic manufacturers. Currently, the company’s products are supplied to many of the world’s largest manufacturers of CT, PET, nuclear, MR and X-ray equipment.
In the 1970s, the company entered into the transportation and propulsion markets by offering machining, fabrication, and distribution of both thermoplastic as well as thermoset materials. HP Manufacturing continues to be a preferred global supplier of OEM products within that market segment. Also, during the 1970s, the company expanded into the P.O.P (Point of Purchase) display market and is now recognized as a leader in the manufacturing of temporary and semi-permanent retail displays. The company offers complete fulfillment services and provides some of the world’s largest retailers with their plastic display requirements.
In the 1990s and 2000s, the company continued to invest in state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and a new, more-efficient production facility with more than 100,000 square feet. This facility is centrally located with close access to all major highways.
In the decade that followed and in the present day, HP Manufacturing continues its commitment to technology by bringing on state-of-the-art, cutting-edge technologies, which enhance its existing line of equipment. The company has brought additional capabilities in house that serve to enhance its core offering by allowing the company to become a one-stop shop for many of its clients’ requirements. These value-added offerings came by way of acquiring companies and partnering with key suppliers. Continuing its commitment to Industry 4.0 and IIoT, HP has implemented various new technologies that aid in producing more complex parts and meeting strict client requirements from both a regulatory and design aspect.
HP Manufacturing has received numerous awards, including seven “North Coast 99 – Honoring 99 Great Workplaces for Top Talent in Northeast Ohio.”
